Suite Class Perks - Royal Caribbean Voyager of the Seas

On Royal Caribbean suite class benefits are available for passengers in a Grand Suite or above (i.e. Grand, Owners, Royal, Royal Family, Loft suites). Unfortunately, these benefits do not apply for Junior Suites. Crown and Anchor loyalty members with Diamond Plus status and above share some of the same benefits. On different vessels and destinations these perks might differ slightly. I would be using my last voyage with Voyager of the Seas from Sydney to New Zealand as an example for this post.

With your suite, you will receive a Gold SeaPass Card upon checking-in dock side.

Perk 1 - Priority Boarding
At the cruise ship terminal, suite class passengers enjoy a priority check-in line. Unlike the big terminal Fort Lauderdale, Sydney's cruise ship terminal (Overseas Passenger Terminal in Circular Quay) is pretty small. Lines are divided into the various C&A levels of membership. Suite class passengers enjoy the same priority check-in with C&A Pinnacle members. At Sydney check-in is by deck (top deck first), and as the suites are on the top deck mainly, they enjoy the earliest check-in time as well. At bigger terminals like Fort Lauderdale, suite passengers can enjoy refreshments in the terminal while awaiting boarding.

Perk 2 - Special Lounges
In the bigger vessels (Voyager, Freedom, Oasis and Quantam classes), suite class passengers can enjoy their own special lounge with an free open bar service in the evenings. On the Voyager, this lounge is the Concierge Lounge found on Deck 9 aft. From 5 - 8:30pm suite guests can enjoy the open bar with their very friendly bartender. If you don't drink much alcohol, with this perk, you don't really need an alcohol beverage package. To maximise this, grab a drink before and after dinner. Also during this time pre-dinner canapes are served. My personal favourite are their chicken wings.

Perk 3 - Concierge Services
Concierge service is provided by a dedicated staff member. Their typical hours are 8 am - 12 noon and 5 - 8:30 pm. Their service includes assistance with restaurant, spa and shore excursion bookings. They can also help sort out any other sort of problem you have with your stateroom.

Perk 4 - Free Games
Asides from typical games (e.g. scrabble and chess) from your game room onboard, suite guests can borrow a range of Mattel board games from the Concierge.

Perk 5 - Priority Tendering or Coach Transfers
At various ports, tendering or coach transfers are required. Most of the time, guests will have to queue for tendering or coach transfer tickets. However, with your special Gold SeaPass Card, you will not need tickets. This will allow you to disembark at your port of call any time you like. For example, in Picton and Napier in New Zealand as the ship ports at the cargo port, coach transfer is needed to get you out of the port itself. Tickets are distributed 30 minutes prior to the start of disembarkation. For suite guests, they will not need to obtain tickets and can head directly to the disembarkation area.

Perk 6 - Priority Seating at Main Shows
At each show, doors open around 30 minutes prior to the show. On the Voyager, there is a dedicated section of seating in the La Scala Theatre and Studio B for Gold SeaPass Card holders. You also won't have to queue for tickets for Ice shows, just head directly to the show about 30 minutes early when they open the doors. Just beware, you might cop some really angry non-suite guest who have been queuing for the last hour. I suggest, just walk on and know you paid for your right.

Perk 7 - Special Pool Deck Seating Area
Red seats in the middle reserved for suite guests on Voyager of the Seas
One of the biggest complaints is not being able to find a deck chair on the pool deck. But with a Gold SeaPass card, you can access a cordoned off seating area of deck chairs. On the Voyager, this is right beside the Pool Bar and has one the best views of the big screen TV.

Perk 8 - Bathrobes
Bathrobes will be provided for your use in during your cruise in your stateroom wardrobe. This can be pretty handy especially when going to the pool or spa when the weather isn't warm. It's also less one thing to pack for the cruise.

Perk 9 - Improved Amenities in the Bathroom
Instead of standard shampoo, conditioner and soap, suite guests are provided a more upscale variety by Giulchrist and Soames.

Perk 10 - Private Breakfast
Breakfast can be pretty chaotic in the Windjammer. Suite guest can enjoy breakfast in one of the specialty dining restaurant. On the Voyager, this is in Chops Grille on Deck 11. There is a small continental buffet spread with some items which you can't get for free at the Windjammer, including a free smoothie and freshly squeezed orange juice. There is also a menu of hot breakfast which is made to order.

Perk 11 - Private Seating in Main Dining Room For Breakfast and Lunch
Suite guest can also enjoy private seating space in the Main Dining Room for Breakfast and Lunch. On the Voyager, this is on Deck 4 of the Sapphire Dining Room (instead of Deck 3 for the rest of the guests).

Perk 12 - Complimentary Pressing
On the first formal night, you an request for complimentary pressing. You can do so by passing what you need pressed to your room attendant in the morning. Your clothes will return pressed by 5 pm.

Perk 13 - Business Services
You can request for certain business services such as faxing and copying from your concierge.

Perk 14 - Main Dining Room Menu for Dinner Room Service
You can order from the Main Dinning Room Menu for Dinner Room Service during the Main Dining Room operating hours. The menu is delivery daily in the morning after your room attendant has made the room.

Perk 15 - Hors d'oeuvers in Room on Formal Nights
Hors d'oeuveres and petit fours are delivered to your stateroom in the afternoon of formal nights.

We'll continue posting more about our experiences on the Voyager. Watch this space!
