Child Immunization Reminder App: Save The Date

Immunisation has the great potential to eradicate deadly infectious diseases. Diseases such as the highly contagious and deadly smallpox has been eradicated as a result of immunisation.

Vaccination not only protects your child from infectious diseases, but also if a large proportion of the general population is vaccinated, children who are unable to be vaccinated are protected through herd immunity.

The Australian Federal Government supports immunisation through funding vaccination as in accordance to the National Immunisation Program Schedule. Vaccines are also provided free if on the National Immunisation Program Schedule.

You can get your child vaccinated at:
·       Your General Practitioner (GP)
·       Aboriginal Medical Services
·       Some local councils
·       Some community health centres

If you are unsure about what services are available in your area, you can contact your nearest Public Health Unit on 1300 066 055.

Children require vaccination at:
·       Birth
·       6–8 Weeks
·       4 Months
·       6 Months
·       12 Months
·       18 Months
·       3½–4 Years

It is also important to vaccinate your child in a timely fashion. According to the NSW Health Immunisation Brochure, it is okay to immunise your child even if they have a runny nose or a slight cold.

You can use the the Save The Date app on Android or iOS to remind you when your child is due for an immunisation. Alternatively you can go on the Save The Date website to generate your child's immunisation due dates to stick on your fridge.
