Nikuzo, Bondi Junction

Nikuzo, Bondi Junction is a Japanese Table Barbeque Restaurant. This is one of the best places to dine on a cold winter's night. Diners sit around a hot charcoal BBQ stove and cook up top quality meat and seafood.

There are 2 main options for dinner - an ala-carte selection or a ala-carte buffet. Both options comes with a wide selection of BBQ meat and cooked dishes. According to the waitress, most customer go for the buffet. We did a rough mental calculation of what we were planning to eat and agreed that the buffet was the better option. There were 3 buffet options -  Standard Buffet, Wagyu Buffet or. The buffet is limited to 120 minutes. The wait staff would request for the final order 60 minutes after the initial order. We figured out why the buffet is only for 120 minutes by deduction - the coal runs out.
We went for the Wagyu Buffet. From our last visit we learnt that service is pretty slow at this restaurant, so we ordered as much as we planned to eat at one go - 2 serves of all uncooked meat cuts and uncooked seafood, 1 salmon salad, 1 seafood salad, corn with butter, 2 deep fried oysters, 2 prawns, 1 serve of takoyaki.

The meat was juicy and tender. The seafood was very fresh. The salad was fresh and well dressed. This is a place where food is superb and can hardly be faulted! We were definitely very stuffed by the end of dinner, but managed to squeeze a vanilla ice-cream with coffee and a serve of fresh oranges down.

The only problem we had with the BBQ was that there wasn't quite enough charcoal. In the middle of the stove, the cooking was perfect, but anywhere else the stove was not hot enough. This made it challenging to cook the pork rib and chicken. Also, it was hard to cook the salmon in the aluminum foil  as it kept sticking.

Price wise, this place is pricey, but for the amount of quality meat is definitely worth it. We've been there 3 times now, and will definitely be back again for more.
