Doraji Korean Fusion Restaurant, Waterloo
With a recent change in hands, Doraji in Waterloo has renovated and re-branded to Doraji Korean Fusion Restaurant.
The newly renovated restaurant has a warm family restaurant feel. Enjoy the privacy which most Asian restaurants don't offer with private cubicle-style booths. There is definitely open style seating for those who feel claustrophobic.
Dinner was served with 2 rounds of Ban-Chan (side dishes) which are complementary. First we had edamame (soy bean pods).
We went for 2 types of Fried Chicken in a platter - Soy and Spicy. The chicken was very juicy and tender and the sauce enhanced the juiciness. The platter was generous for the 2 of us, and we had to take home some. Also, this platter did not come with rice - quite unusual for a Korean restaurant.

Doraji's dinner menu is largely focused on fried chicken and hot stew pots. There are the usual Korean well-loved Korean dishes as well like steamed eggs and pancakes.

This was followed by a set of 6 more ban-chan. This included white radish pickled, seaweed, green salad, potato salad and fried fish cake. The quality of the ban-chan was slightly above average. But the wait staff were very reluctant to refill after the first round.
Overall, Doraji Korean Fusion is an interesting addition to Waterloo. But, I'm not so sure if the restaurant will survive especially when there is 1 other Korean restaurant a few doors down and a new Korean BBQ to open soon. The largest downside to the restaurant is the limited menu. It will be interesting to watch if by predominantly selling fried chicken would survive in this competitive area!
