Abdul's Lebanese Restaurant, Surry Hills

Abdul's Lebanese Restaurant on Elizabeth Street in Surry Hills is a family owned Lebanese Restaurant and Take Away. The take away options are cheaper than the dine-in - but the food is just as good.

Seating Options
There is the normal seating option in their main dining hall or small rooms where patron seat on low couches and eat from coffee tables. The latter is pretty good when you dine in a group as it provides a private and cosy feel. There's also a belly dancer who comes now and then to entertain.

Food
There's an ala carte menu as well as a banquet menu. If you are starving, the banquet menu is definitely worth every cent with a wide range of cold and hot dishes, and desserts served. We weren't so hungry, so we went for a few dishes from the ala carte menu.

Rice and Meat ($11) - Brown rice cooked with lamb mince and pine nuts. Probably being Chinese, I'm used to soft fluffy moist rice. This rice is pretty dry. I personally didn't really like it.

Rice and Meat

Pickled Chilli and Olives and Lebanese Bread. All dinners are served with this complementary. I love the pickled chilli. The bread is very fresh and goes well with most of the mains.

BBQ Mixed Plate ($20) - Homous (chickpea dip), tabouli (parsley salad), baba ganouge (eggplant dip), garlic sauce, chicken skewer, lamb shish kebab skewer, kafta skewer (beef), falafel (deep fried ball made from chickpea and fava beans). This is a plate full of very wonderful things. I love the falafel at this place. It's not over-fried, as what you would find most of the time, so the outside is really crispy (not crunchy), and the insides are so juicy. All the meat are very well flavoured, very smoky and juicy.

Drinks
Fresh Lemon Drink ($2.5) and Lebanese Coffee ($2.5). The fresh lemon drink is a home made lemonade with pulp. Do be warned that this is a pretty sweet drink! This coffee is a pretty strong and sweet drink - definitely not your everyday espresso, worth trying.

Overall
The food here is pretty delicious. The shop owner is very very friendly and ensures you have a good experience at her shop. There's somewhat a homely feel to this place that makes people keep coming back for more.
